TREM Devotional 10 March 2026 – The Church Is Special To God

Biblical Context

First Peter is a letter written by the Apostle Peter to scattered believers facing tough times. These believers were living as “strangers” or “exiles” in different regions of Asia Minor. Peter was a leader among Jesus’ first followers, and he had seen a lot and learned so much from being with Jesus. He wrote this letter to help them stay strong in their faith during suffering. He wanted them to know that their salvation was real and coming, and that even in hard times, they had a special place in God’s plan. He reminds them of the hope they have in Christ and how their faith is a powerful thing, much like gold that gets made pure in fire. Peter wants them to remember who they are in Jesus and to live holy lives, showing God’s goodness to everyone.

Let’s look at the word “revealed” from 1 Peter 1:12. In the Greek, it’s apokalyptō (ἀποκαλύπτω). This word literally means “to uncover,” “to disclose,” or “to unveil.” Think of it like pulling back a curtain to show something that was hidden. It’s not just making something known; it’s bringing it fully into view from being totally unknown or concealed. When Peter says it “was revealed,” it means God actively pulled back the curtain on this amazing truth about the Church. It wasn’t something people figured out; it was something God showed them. This act of revealing shows God’s control and His perfect timing in bringing out His plans.

The Church: A Hidden Mystery, Now Revealed

You know, the Church wasn’t always out in the open for everyone to see. It was a special secret kept deep in God’s heart until just the right time came for it to be shown. The God who made everything held this secret close, waiting for the perfect moment to pull back the curtain and let the world see it. Prophets from long ago spoke about it; they gave messages about the salvation you and I now enjoy, and the amazing grace that would come with it. But honestly, they didn’t fully understand what they were saying. They talked about a new group of people, a generation where God wouldn’t count their sins against them. They spoke of a new kind of creation that God wouldn’t judge for their wrongs. These prophets really wanted to understand this Church secret, this big plan, but it wasn’t for them to fully grasp. It was saved just for us, right now, in this time where God’s grace is freely given. This is what makes your place in the Church so amazing; you’re living in the time of its full showing.

God’s Grand Purpose for You and the Church

God’s big, forever plan in all of this was simple yet powerful: He wanted to use the Church to show off His amazing wisdom, His endless cleverness, to the unseen leaders and powers that work in heavenly places. Think about that for a moment. You, simply because you believe in Jesus, are a living part of this amazing showing. You carry His glory every day. You were made to show His greatness and His special status to everyone around you and to the unseen world. Your assignment, your very reason for being here, is to let the world see what heaven looks like. Why? Because you carry heaven’s atmosphere, heaven’s peace, and heaven’s power right inside you. This was God’s plan from the very start, a plan He made happen through Christ Jesus our Lord. As the Apostle Paul made it so clear:
“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Corinthians 2:7–8 NKJV). This means God had this plan for you, for your benefit, even before time began.

You Confuse the Darkness

Don’t you understand how powerful you are? You are the very puzzle that confuses the kingdom of darkness. The evil forces of hell can’t figure out how you act with such God-given power and strength. They can’t get their minds around how someone like you, born again by the Spirit, carries heaven’s mandate, heaven’s command, heaven’s authority right here on earth. This is what really makes the Church extraordinary and different from anything else. We are the special people of God, picked to show His wisdom and His favor in every place we go. We are the ones God treats with distinct honor and amazing grace. You aren’t just an ordinary person walking around; you are heaven’s ambassador, someone sent from God to reveal His glory to the entire world! Embrace this truth; it changes everything about how you see yourself and what you do.
