Biblical Context

Our main Fire Scripture comes from 1 Kings, a book in the Old Testament that tells us about the kings of Israel and Judah. It’s filled with stories of prophets like Elijah, who stood strong for God during a time when many had turned away. The author, likely a prophet or a group of scribes, wanted to show God’s faithfulness and power, even when people didn’t listen. This particular story of Elijah on Mount Carmel, leading to the rain after a long drought and his superhuman run, is a dramatic display of God’s direct intervention.

The Memory Verse from Ephesians, on the other hand, comes from a letter written by the Apostle Paul. He penned this from prison, likely in Rome, to the church in Ephesus. Paul’s letters often teach Christians about living out their faith and understanding God’s amazing grace. In Ephesians 3, Paul is actually talking about the mystery of the gospel, how Gentiles are now included in God’s plan. This verse then bursts forth as a declaration of God’s limitless ability, a powerful promise that God can do so much more than we can even imagine, all because of the Holy Spirit working in us.

Key Word Study

Let’s look at the phrase, “the hand of the Lord”, which is central to Elijah’s story in 1 Kings 18:46. In the Hebrew Bible, the word for “hand” is yad (יָד). When the Bible talks about the “hand of the Lord,” it’s not just a physical hand. It’s a way to speak about God’s direct action, His power, His authority, and His strong presence working in someone or something. It signifies divine intervention and empowerment.

When the hand of the Lord was on Elijah, it meant God’s power came upon him in a special way. This power enabled him to do something far beyond normal human capability – to outrun Ahab’s chariot over a significant distance. It’s a sign of God equipping His chosen ones for extraordinary feats, allowing them to move with a speed and strength that isn’t naturally their own. It’s a picture of God’s immediate, active involvement, pushing things forward in a way that bypasses human limits and speeds up what would otherwise take much longer or be impossible.

The Deep Dive into Divine Acceleration

Our Fire Scripture today gives us a crystal-clear picture of divine acceleration. In 1 Kings 18:46, the Bible says, “And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” Think about that! Ahab was in a chariot, the fastest mode of transport at the time, and Elijah, a man, outran him. That’s not just fast; that’s supernatural speed, a clear sign of God’s power at work.

Just like with Elijah, God really can fulfill His plans and purposes for your life at a rate much faster than what’s naturally possible. You know, there are these things we call decelerating powers. They’re evil spirits, actually, that want to slow people’s lives and destinies down. They love to cause delay, make you stagnant, or even make you go backward. We’ve all seen or felt it—that frustrating feeling when things just aren’t moving forward. These powers are enemies to what God wants to do for you, and we’ve got to deal with them head-on through prayer and spiritual warfare.

The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” While that’s true, it doesn’t mean we have to tolerate ungodly delays. The anointing of divine acceleration is God’s perfect answer to all kinds of delay or slow progress you might be facing.

Let’s consider some real-life examples. When a student takes ten years to finish a four-year course, something is clearly wrong. Decelerating powers are at work, and that student needs divine acceleration. Or imagine someone who gets a promotion only once every fifteen years, while their peers get promoted five to seven times in that same period. That person absolutely needs the oil of divine acceleration poured over their life. Whenever you notice that progress and achievements are just too slow in any part of your life – maybe it’s your business, your ministry, your relationships, or even your personal growth – that’s when you should cry out to Heaven. Ask God to step in and give you supernatural acceleration.

It’s a tough truth, but without divine speed injected into some people’s lives, they simply won’t fulfill their God-given purposes. They could end up feeling like failures. But I’m declaring right now, that will not be your portion, in Jesus’ Name.

When you experience divine acceleration, you’re going to see remarkable progress in all areas of your life. It’s like the tree of your life will suddenly flourish and bring forth fruits exactly when it’s supposed to. Remember the Israelites? The journey from Egypt to the Promised Land was supposed to be an eleven-day trip, but it took them forty years because of their disobedience. With divine acceleration, your eleven-day journey won’t take your forty years. The eagle of your destiny will start to fly high and fast, and the vehicle of your destiny will move at incredible speed instead of being stuck or slowed down. The power of the spirit of inertia, that feeling of being stuck, along with delay and decay, will be completely broken over your life. You’re going to experience all-round fulfillment.

So, what’s your part in this? If you haven’t given your life to Jesus yet, if you’re not born again, make that decision right now. It’s the first step to unlocking every good thing God has for you. Then, cry out to God today and ask Him to give you divine acceleration. Believe that He hears you and that His hand is ready to move things forward in your life beyond anything you could imagine.
